Getting Ashore

Seville is a true riverfront cruise port — ships dock at the Muelle de las Delicias on the Guadalquivir, less than a kilometre from the Torre del Oro and the historic center.

Into Seville's old city

  • 1
Muelle de las Delicias terminalShips dock on the western bank of the Guadalquivir, right in the city. The Torre del Oro is a 10-minute walk north along the riverside paseo.
  • 2
Walking to the centerFollow Paseo de Cristóbal Colón north to reach the Torre del Oro, then cut inland to the Cathedral and Alcázar in under 15 minutes — entirely flat and easy.
  • 3
Taxis and horse carriagesTaxis queue near the terminal; fares to the Cathedral area run about €6–8. Fleet of tourist carriages (coches de caballos) available outside the Alcázar.

💡 Pro move: Only medium-sized ships can navigate 80 km up the Guadalquivir from the Atlantic. Megaships generally can't make the river transit and instead call at Cádiz as a gateway to Seville.

Insider Tips

  • 🎟️
Book the Alcázar in advance. Timed-entry tickets sell out days ahead, especially in spring and autumn. Buy online before your cruise or queue early.
  • 🌡️
Summer heat is serious. June–September temperatures regularly top 38°C (100°F). Start early, carry water, wear a hat, and plan a midday break in the shade.
  • 💶
Cash and card both work. Most Seville restaurants and shops accept cards. Some traditional tapas bars prefer cash — keep small bills for drinks and snacks.
  • Spanish lunch runs late. Kitchens open at 14:00, tapas bars peak at 14:30–16:00. Don't show up hungry at noon expecting a full meal — grab a morning pastry from a coffeehouse instead.
  • 🚢
Check whether your ship actually docks in Seville. Mega-ships can't navigate the river and instead call at Cádiz — Seville is a long day excursion from there, not a walk-off port.
