Mykonos has two arrival options: larger ships often dock at the New Port (Tourlos), ~2 km north of town, while on busy days or with certain ships you'll anchor offshore and tender into the Old Port on the Chora waterfront. Check your ship's daily program.
💡 Pro move: Mykonos is notoriously windy (the Meltemi blows hard in summer); if you're tendering and seas turn rough, runs can be delayed or suspended — build buffer time before all-aboard. Private water taxis also run from the Old Port to beaches directly.
Mykonos handles ships two ways: docked at the New Port (Tourlos) with a shuttle into town, or anchored offshore with tenders to the Old Port steps from Chora. The New Port has limited berths, so on busy days ships tender.

Mykonos rewards those who pick one or two things and do them well — trying to do beaches AND Delos AND the town AND sunset in one day usually means doing none of them well.
A 30-minute boat ride from the Old Port, Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece — birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, with remarkably intact ruins, mosaics, and the famous Terrace of the Lions.

From the tender dock walk along the waterfront to Matogianni Street, wind through the maze of Chora lanes, emerge at the Kato Mili windmills for the view, then descend to the Little Venice waterfront bars. One of the best short walks in the Greek islands.
The Paraportiani is arguably the most photographed church in Greece — a cluster of five small whitewashed chapels fused together over centuries. It's just north of the Old Port, tucked in the Kastro quarter. Best light is morning.
