Insider Tips

  • 🚕
Book taxis early. There are only ~30-40 taxis on the whole island. If you want to reach Seychelles Beach or any mountain village, arrange transport at the pier the moment you arrive.
  • 💶
Carry cash. Many small cafes, taxis, and beach access points are cash-only. ATMs are in Agios Kirykos center — use them early before the afternoon rush.
  • 🌊
Free thermal bathing at Lefkada rocks is an easy 2 km walk from the pier — hot mineral water flows into the sea and you can soak at no cost. Bring a towel and old swimwear (the minerals can stain).
  • 😴
Siesta is real. Between roughly 2–5:30 PM, shops and some restaurants close for the afternoon rest — one of Ikaria's famed longevity habits. Plan your town exploration for morning.
  • 👟
Pack sturdy shoes. The best beaches (Seychelles) and monasteries involve steep rocky paths. Flip-flops won't cut it.
