Insider Tips

  • Cathedral midday closure: The Duomo closes roughly 12:00–15:30 for the afternoon break. Visit in the morning or after 3:30 PM.
  • 🥾
La Rocca footwear: The path is rocky and uneven — trainers or hiking sandals are essential. Flip-flops won't cut it.
  • 💶
Cash is handy: Most restaurants and shops accept cards, but smaller stalls and the beach sunbed vendors often prefer cash. ATMs are available on Corso Ruggero.
  • 🏖️
Beach timing: The Lungomare beach is free at the northern (harbour) end. Paid sunbeds fill up fast — arrive by 10 AM if you want a spot in high season.
  • 👗
Cathedral dress code: Shoulders and knees must be covered. A sarong or light scarf works fine and can double as beach cover-up.
