Insider Tips

  • 🎟️
Scavi di Stabia is free. Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco charge no admission — rare for a site this impressive. Go early; there's no crowd control as at Pompeii.
  • 🚂
Use the Circumvesuviana. Pompeii Scavi station is one stop away. Buy a round-trip ticket (a few euros) at the station near the port. Far cheaper than a tour bus.
  • Book Capri ferries in advance in summer. Day-trip demand peaks June–August; ferries sell out. The crossing takes roughly 45 minutes.
  • 🚡
Funivia season is April–October. The Mount Faito cable car closes in winter and may close on windy days. Check locally on arrival.
  • 💧
Taste the mineral water. The Acqua della Madonna spring near the old port is free to taste and a genuine local ritual — naturally effervescent and refreshing.
