Mexico's only fully walled city is a living museum — pastel-painted mansions, pirate-proof bastions, and Mayan treasures all within easy walking distance of the waterfront.
Campeche has a small commercial port — large ships anchor and tender; smaller vessels may dock at the city pier. The historic center is a short ride or walk from the waterfront.
💡 Pro move: Currency exchange is available at banks on Calle 10 near Parque Principal. ATMs are inside the walled city. Credit cards accepted at most restaurants and shops in the historic center.
Campeche's port is a small commercial harbor — expect tender operations or a basic pier, not a dedicated cruise terminal.
| Cruise Line | Typical Berth / Arrival | Dock or Tender |
|---|---|---|
| Small/boutique cruise lines (Ponant, Windstar, etc.) | Muelle de Campeche, Campeche City📍 | Docked |
| Larger expedition ships | Anchorage off Campeche City📍 | Tendered |

Start at Baluarte de la Soledad (now the Museo de Arquitectura Maya) on the north side of Parque Principal, then walk the perimeter counterclockwise through Baluarte de San Carlos, Baluarte de Santa Rosa, and Baluarte de San Juan before returning through Puerta de Tierra.
Enter the walled city through the inland Puerta de Tierra (Land Gate), walk the length of Calle 59 — the most photogenic street in Campeche, lined with painted colonial houses — past Parque Principal, then exit through the seaward Puerta de Mar (Sea Gate) and step out to the Gulf waterfront Malecón for sunset views.
