Insider Tips

  • Tender timing matters: Calvi is a popular port — tender queues can be long mid-morning. Either go ashore early or wait 30 minutes after the rush.
  • 👟
Wear proper shoes: The citadel's cobbled streets are steep and uneven. Flip-flops from the beach bag won't cut it.
  • 🌊
Book Scandola early: Boat tours sell out, especially in summer. Reserve through the ship or the marina kiosks as soon as you go ashore.
  • 💶
Cash for the market: ATMs are on Rue Clemenceau and near the main square. Small artisan stalls and village markets may not accept cards.
  • ☀️
Sun is fierce in summer: The beach and citadel offer little shade midday — bring sunscreen, a hat, and water.
